June 26th, 2018

Winning has become a habit for 10u Roach as they continued their dominance knocking off the Twin Creek Mudcats in the NYB Field of Dreams Frenzy championship. The Orange have now won a total of three tournament championships this season. The third ranked Orange tallied 52 runs from impressive performances at the plate. Those performances came from: Riley Davison (.750 avg and 5 runs scored), Nick Nasser (.364 avg, 6 runs scored, and 5 RBIs), Izayah Mahaney (.600 avg and 4 RBIs), Peyton Auler (.500 avg and 7 runs scored), and Quinn Smith (5th HR of the year). On the hill, the trio of Jack Roach, Christopher Martz, and Owen Robey controlled opposing offenses. Jack Roach recorded 7.1 innings pitched with 12 Ks, Christopher Martz had 7.2 innings pitched with 11 Ks, and Owen Robey threw 5.2 innings with 3 Ks.

12u Braz made their presence known around the state this weekend when they competed for the USSSA Class AAA State Tournament. The Orange upset the #1 ranked Fort Wayne Diamondbacks on Saturday behind the brilliant performance of Jack Brown. He was literally unhittable recording a no hitter, just one walk shy of a perfect game. During his 6 innings of work, Brown struck out 11 Diamondback hitters. Not only was Brown spectacular on the mound, but he scored the only run of the game, clinching the upset victory. On the weekend, 12u Braz won two games against the best competition in the state. Offense played a big factor in their success behind stellar play of Alex Billman (.556 avg and 3 RBIs), Caulin Hochstedler (.556 avg and 3 runs scored), Ryan “Bubba” Cox (.714 avg, 3 runs scored, and 4 RBIs), Noah McPeek (.444 avg), Gavin Hagerty (.600 avg), Tyler Noel (.444 avg and 4 runs scored), and Jack Brown (.556 avg and 3 runs scored). The Orange are now ranked #5 in USSSA Class AAA after their showing this weekend.

Another team that had a successful weekend was 10u Imes as they were the NYB Field of Dreams Frenzy Black Bracket runners up. The Orange captured three wins against solid competition throughout the weekend. Offense once again was a factor for the Orange as many players stood out: Owen Ingalls (.444 avg, 6 runs scored, and 6 stolen bases), Levi Chandler (.857 avg, 5 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases), Cohen Boyd (.444 avg and 5 runs scored), and Roman Gralak (.727 avg, 6 runs scored, and 4 stolen bases).

12u Benbow added onto the winning ways of the weekend, capturing the NYB Field of Dreams Frenzy Gold Bracket championship. The team started the weekend off slow, but finished incredibly strong. The bats got hot late, especially for Mason Burzynski. In the semi-final game, Burzynski launched an absolute bomb over the field 7 fence at NYB, which was his first home run of his career. The shot was estimated to go about 250ft! Burzynski was not done; however, as he sent another home run into orbit in his very next AB. Along with his first two career home runs, he batted .364 with 7 RBIs. There were also many other standouts for 12u Benbow including: Brendan Albright (.500 avg, 6 runs scored, and 4 RBIs), Carter Imes (.615 avg and 7 runs scored), Chase Benbow (.500 avg and 5 runs scored), and Gabe Dugan (.600 avg, 6 runs scored, and 4 RBIs).

The Orange have a #1 ranked team in the USSSA Class A rankings by 13u Johnson. The Orange had a great weekend, winning their two pool play games and pulling out a tremendous victory over the Indiana Dingers. 13u Johnson had a good mix of hitting and solid pitching to get the job done. Caleb Murray and Grant Belush were standouts on the mound. The duo combined for 9 innings pitched and 9 strikeouts. There were many key contributors at the plate, and none other than Drew Servies. He literally did not get out all weekend going 5-5, with 4 runs scored, and 2 RBIs. More players who helped contribute to the two wins were Mitchell Mainord (.636 avg, 4 runs scored, and 7 RBIs) and Truman Stults (.600 avg and 3 runs scored).

Knocking off #1 teams in the state must have been a thing this past weekend as 13u Morrow captured their first win of the season against top ranked 13u Johnson. The game was wild to say the least. The outcome came down to extra innings as 13u Morrow scored 5 runs in the top half of the extra inning to secure their first victory of the season. Andrew Oger was lights out on the mound throwing 5.2 innings. He was also key at the plate going 3-3 with 2 runs scored and 3 stolen bases. Bryce Morrow also made an impact going 2-4 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs.

Even the youngest age group looked spectacular this weekend as 8u Sarver finished as the runner up in the USSSA June Jam in Columbus, Indiana. The Orange went 46/62 at the plate outscoring their opponents 33-6 in pool play. The Orange attack was lead by Keenan Waitek, Brayden Sarver, Xander Keeven, Cam Eicher, Kallan Fox, and Cohen O’Grady. They look to keep improving to finish the year strong.

Our Team Prayer

"Dear Heavenly Father, we are so blessed to have the opportunity to play this wonderful game called baseball. We ask your blessings upon us today and that as we play and compete at our highest abilities we pray that you help each of us act in a way that is pleasing to You and that is also respectful and honorable to our opponents, to our coaches, to our parents and to the umpires. In Jesus Name we pray, amen."
