June 26th, 2019

13u Benbow received their rings this past weekend for their tournament victory in the USSSA Hit for the Cycle AA Championship!

11u Roach competed in the USSSA AA State Tournament this weekend in Columbus and Seymour. The Orange went 2-0 in pool play and got the #4 seed. To no surprise, bracket play was delayed once again due to the weather.  The Orange’s first bracket game was Saturday night at 9:30pm and they beat Fall Creek 5-4. They then played Rossville at 11:45pm and lost steam at 1:30am in the morning with a loss. Some players who had themselves a great weekend offensively were: Owen Ingals (.375 avg and 7 runs scored), Carter Clemens (.600 avg and 9 RBIs), Jack Roach (.556 avg and 3 runs scored), and Nathan Hawkins (.375 avg, 4 stolen bases, and a HR). Hawkins also has a stellar performance on the mound in the Orange’s first bracket game, going the distance. He only gave up three earned runs while striking out six in his five innings of work.

10u Proll had some fun in the sun playing in an open tournament in Michigan City, IN over the weekend.  The Orange went 2-2 in pool play, beating teams from Illinois and Michigan. There was great pitching in the first game that led to a 5-3 victory over Lakeshore Storm. The great pitching came from these candidates: Joseph LaCombe, Lukas Risser, and Austin Wilhite. Arley Saxon led the team in hitting going 2-3 with 3 RBIs.

The Orange unfortunately fell in their second and fourth pool play games. In the fourth pool play game, Owen Spidel led the way offensively with a double and RJ Katter was 1-2. But in the third game, they pulled out an impressive 10-9 victory over the Athletic Konnection out of Chicago. Jaxsen Demos led the comeback win by going 3-3 with 3 RBIs.  Also Bo McVey was 1-2 with 1 RBI, Donovan Proll 2-3 with an RBI and 5 SB, and Arley Saxon went 2-3 with 2 RBIs.  Austin Wilhite finished the game by pitching 3 shutout innings, allowing 1 hit and struck out 5!

Orange bounced back from their loss in pool play in a big way to start the tournament with a 13-3 win over the 3rd seeded Bolingbrook Rampage! JaxTwoBags Demos was 1-3 with 3 RBIs and a double, Blake Wilson went 1-2 with an RBI, Donovan Proll was 2-3 with 3 RBIs, Lukas Risser went 1-2 with an RBI, Sam Sponseller was 1-1 with 2 runs scored, and Joseph LaCombe went 2-3 at the plate while pitching 4 great innings for the win!

The Orange lost to a tough AAA/Major opponent in the semi final, who ended up becoming the champs. 10u Proll also enjoyed time off the field by having a pizza/pool party and a day at the beach!

Our Team Prayer

"Dear Heavenly Father, we are so blessed to have the opportunity to play this wonderful game called baseball. We ask your blessings upon us today and that as we play and compete at our highest abilities we pray that you help each of us act in a way that is pleasing to You and that is also respectful and honorable to our opponents, to our coaches, to our parents and to the umpires. In Jesus Name we pray, amen."
